PRE-CAMP SWIM CHECKS

There are eight opportunities to complete pre-camp swim checks in Carol Stream, Egin, and Oswego. Pre-camp swim checks can be completed locally before camp starts! Many units use this opportunity to minimize the check-in time when arriving at camp, and you can too! Click the Read More button for a list of pre-camp swim checks.

What is the Swim Test? All youth and adult participants are designated as swimmers, beginners, or nonswimmers based on swimming ability confirmed by standardized BSA swim classification tests. Each group is assigned a specific swimming area with depths consistent with those abilities. The classification tests must be renewed annually, preferably at the beginning of the season even if the Scout has earned the Swimming merit badge.

Testing takes approximately 15 minutes each. Goggles are NOT permitted during tests. If you wear contacts, please take them out before testing.
